National Flag Days 2026

 


University of Antique - Tario Lim Memorial Campus Library joins the nation in celebrating National Flag Days and commemorating the 128th Anniversary of the Battle of the Alapan.

Filipino revolutionary forces under the overall command of General Emilio Aguinaldo, who returned from exile on 18 May 1898, defeated a large Spanish force at the field of Alapan, Imus, Cavite. In celebration of the victory, Aguinaldo unfurled and showed to the Filipino people for the first time the new National Flag made by Marcela MariΓ±o de Agoncillo in Hong Kong at the Teatro CaviteΓ±o in Cavite City. National Flag Day was formally declared through the Presidential Proclamation No. 374 in 1965. Then in 1994, Executive Order No. 179 extended the observance into National Flag Days, which enjoins all Filipinos to proudly display the Philippine flag on all buildings, establishments, and homes from May 28 to June 12.  every year.
