National Book Week 2024: A Wrap-Up

 National Book Week 2024: A Wrap-Up

The 90th National Book Week celebration was a resounding success, thanks to the active participation of our students and faculty/staff, the unwavering support of the administration, and the dedicated efforts of the Library Famiread.

The program began with the much-anticipated launch of Library Digest, our very first library newsletter. The ribbon-cutting ceremony was led by Sir Porferio Bangcaya, the campus administrator, alongside Janine Cleo Hilario, our Designated Librarian. Following this, the Librew Corner officially opened, offering free coffee, biscuits, and pandesal to everyone—a cozy treat that was greatly appreciated.

Simultaneously, the Book Hunting activity kicked off with instructions and guidelines shared with eager participants. A total of 17 books were hidden across various campus buildings, with the exciting rule that those who found the books could keep them.

The Pelibkula activity at the AVR screened three different movies, providing entertainment and relaxation. Later in the morning, we introduced a new and highly engaging activity: PalaBooknutan. Participants spun the color wheel for a chance to pick a number, try again, or hear "sorry," which added an element of suspense and fun.

The enthusiasm from both students and faculty/staff was palpable throughout the day. Students showed remarkable energy and determination in the Book Hunting activity, while many enjoyed the Librew Corner’s warm offerings. Among all the events, PalaBooknutan emerged as a crowd favorite, with even faculty members visiting the library to take part in the fun.

These activities, held annually, not only promote a love for reading and books but also help market our library’s diverse services and strengthen connections with our patrons.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to everyone who made this event memorable. Here's to another successful celebration, and we look forward to an even better one next year!
